The Hart Island
The top of the arching stone front stairways features a center stone naming the three Commissioners who headed the NYC Department of Public charity and Correction when the now- abandoned Hart Island Building was erected in 1883.
Where it is? It's in Hart Island, NY... near New York City, NY.
I learned lots of sad, VERY sad to see the dead people buried in Hart Island. We can't do anything empowered to stop doing that, it was long long ago like in between in Civil War to WWII. Now it's restricted area that we can't come over and have investigation there to find and chase the ghosts. Again, it's restricted area by Department of Corrections to use today.
Anyway, I see that they are 100% haunted island than other place, like in Proveglia Island, Italy.
Hart Island was used to be the Federation Government used the Island as a prison camp for the Confederate soldiers in 1865. And later on near in 1900s the island used to be home of charity hospital for women, and an insane asylum and a jail for prisoners to use to working on burial at Potter's Field burial detail. Finally, WWII turned to use this island (Navy) to used as a disciplinary barracks for Navy, Coast Guards and Mariner personnel and as many 2,800 servicemen in custody.
Sadly, they are not allowed any public or private or any request to permit to come the island. It's still restricted.
I started to read at the "Gideon's Sword" novel website about the "Hart Island" story- Douglas Preston and his partner, as a photographer- they went to visit the island without these knowledge. Very interested story what happened to them at http://www.prestonchild.com/books/gideonssword/hartisland/What-Is-Buried-on-Hart-Island-;art321,363 that is not funny story and felt Whoa. Department of Corrections means business if you come to the Hart Island and touch these land, you are under arrest.
